There used to be a memorial monument in the Mita area, but it was removed immediately after the war. In 1956, the Mita village government erected a monument to honor the surviving families.

In 1956 (Showa 31), Mitamura erected this monument in consideration of the feelings of the bereaved families. In the former Mitamura village, there were 173 war dead and atomic bomb victims from the Sino-Japanese War to the Pacific War, of which 25 were atomic bomb victims, including 23 mobilized students and 2 soldiers. Every October, a memorial service is held by the bereaved families' association.
