Steel plates were used for the bridge girders, but they were donated during the war.

Kyobashi Bridge, which spans the Kyobashi River, was built as a national highway bridge and completed in August 1927 (Showa 2). Steel plates were used for the bridge girders, but these were donated during the war. The bridge was hit by the atomic bomb on August 6, 1945 (Showa 20), 1.38 kilometers from the hypocenter. Although the upper parts of the support pillars collapsed, there were no problems with passage across the bridge, and it continued to play an important role as an evacuation route for victims of the bomb and a route for relief efforts.
