A facility that promotes the preservation of the townscape, a place for interaction between local residents and visitors, and a base for tourism
Tomo-cho Townscape Preservation Center "Tomo Terrace" is a complex constructed to promote the preservation of Tomo-cho's townscape, foster interaction between local residents and visitors to Tomo-cho, and promote the appeal of Tomo-cho as a tourist destination.
The eastern section of this facility is a traditional building that was created by restoring a Meiji-era townhouse using traditional techniques.
Visitors can see exhibits introducing townscape preservation efforts, Tomo-cho's traditional festivals, and the remains of the early modern port town, all related to the Japan Heritage site "Fukuyama-Tomonoura."
Additionally, the Tomo Townscape Regeneration and Utilization Consultation Center has been set up on the second floor of the facility, providing consultation on repairs to traditional buildings and the revitalization and utilization of vacant houses.
