The place where Mori Motonari's eldest son, Takamoto, reached the end of the mystery

This is the place where Takamoto, the eldest son of Mori Motonari, is said to have been cremated. Takamoto left Hofu on an expedition to support his father, Motonari, who was stationed in Izumo to subjugate the Amago clan. On the way, he was invited to the residence of Wachi Masaharu, a retainer of the Mori clan, and was treated well. He suddenly fell ill in the early hours of the following day after returning to his lodgings at Rengeji Temple, and passed away at the young age of 41. The cause of death is said to be food poisoning or poisoning, but the truth is unknown. In later years, Akagawa Motoyasu, who looked after Masaharu and Takamoto, was executed on suspicion of Motonari. It has been passed down to posterity as Takamoto's grave. However, in the late Edo period, a Choshu samurai visited this place, which was said to be Takamoto's grave, and after investigating, concluded that it was not a grave.
