A base for lifelong learning built in the wake of interaction with the 39th President of the United States
The bell of Shoganji Temple led to the visit of the 39th President of the United States, Jimmy Carter, to Kono-machi in October 1990, which led to exchanges with the Carter Center and the city of Atlanta. This prompted the construction of the Jimmy Carter Civic Center as a base for lifelong learning. It is fully equipped with facilities such as the multipurpose Peace Bell Hall, a planetarium, a library, an audio studio, a peace learning center, and training rooms.
