Enjoy a 3-minute walk in the air

A temple representing Onomichi with many important cultural properties
Saikoku-ji Temple, which is said to have been founded by Gyoki Bosatsu, is located halfway up Mt. Atago, one of the three mountains of Onomichi.
Go through the Deva Gate, famous for its large straw sandals with a length of about 2 m, and climb the 108-step stone steps to the main hall, which is a national important cultural property. When you climb the stone steps further, you will see a vermilion three-storied pagoda (National Important Cultural Property). This tower is said to have been donated by Ashikaga's sixth shogun, Yoshinori.
It is crowded with many people during during the new year, as well as the “Goma Ceremony” and the “Setsubun Kai.”
Saigoji

This is Tojiin Saigo-ji Temple on Mt. Chigetsu, opened by the sect is the Jishu sect's founder Ippen Shonin, and the sixth generation of Yugyo, Toaichi Shonin, and the principal image is Amida Nyorai, who was the eminent Buddha of Takauji ASHIKAGA.
The main hall and daimon are nationally designated important cultural properties. It was built in 1353 by Ashikaga Takauji, receiving donations of the Ingo, Nenjitsu, and Buddha's territory and 20,000 kan.
The main hall best represents the architectural style of the Northern and Southern Courts, and is valuable as the remains of the oldest main hall of the Jishu sect. Daimon was erected in 1395 by the wife of the lord of Bingo Aikata Castle, in Oei 2 (1395), and the wife became a nun who was a believer in the sixth generation of Yugyo Toaichin Shonin, and it is said that she died in this area.

Jodoji is said to have been founded by Prince Shotoku a real long time ago, and is one of the most ancient temples in the Chugoku region.
With the prosperity of the port as a temple where Onomichi's villagers developed as a key to the Seto Inland Sea, it is supported by the townspeople of each era and has been around 700 years since the end of the Kamakura period.
The sun setting to the west of the precincts shines as if reminiscent of the world of the Pure Land, and the main hall, Amida hall, and Tahoto pagoda illuminated by the light of the sunrise are solemn words.
