This museum is a permanent collection of works by a couple of Japanese-style painter Okuda Genso from Miyoshi City and puppet artist Okuda Sayume. The world view of “Machizuki,” a masterpiece from Genso, depicting the moment when the moon rises from the top of the forest close to the Basen River is reproduced in the lobby of Special exhibitions.

Many works by the world-famous doll artist Tsujimura Jusaburo are on display, and special exhibitions are also held along the theme.
The Miyoshi City Museum of History and Folklore on the 2nd floor also exhibits Miyoshi dolls and materials related to the history of Miyoshi City.
The building is a historic Western-style building built in Showa 2 (1927) as the head office of Miyoshi Bank.

The exhibition focuses on materials related to the yokai story “Ino Mononoke Roku” set in Miyoshi.
You can find there a collection of about 5,000 specters donated by folklorist Yumoto Goichi. Also, the big digital screen created by “teamLab Yokai Amusement Park,” where you can give life to the yokai you drew is very popular along children.
