[Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture] Spring Special Exhibition: "The Fox and the 'Transformation Tale'"
Spring Special Exhibition: "The Fox and the 'Transformation Tale'"
Overview: The fox, while possessing sacred qualities such as being a messenger of Inari shrines, is also known as a yokai (supernatural creature) that deceives humans. Among them, the "Henka Monogatari" (Tales of Transformation), set in Tango Province during the Edo period, is a masterpiece of yokai tales featuring a shapeshifting fox. In this exhibition, we will present in detail three picture scrolls and two manuscripts from our collection, including previously unseen scenes.
Date: March 13th (Friday) – June 23rd (Tuesday), 2020
*Some exhibits will change starting May 14th (Thursday).
Closed on Wednesdays (except April 29th and May 6th)
