Koshi Taisai (Ebisukō, Ebessan)
The “Koshi Taisai” is an autumn festival held every year for 3 days on November 18, 19, 20 at Koshi Shrine in Ebisucho, Naka-ku, and is one of Hiroshima's three major festivals along with the “Tokasan Festival” and “Sumiyoshi Festival.”
It is a festival that heralds the arrival of winter in Hiroshima, and is also known locally as the “Ebisu (Ebisu) Course,” and is the guardian deity for prosperous business.
In the shopping district near the shrine, large sales of “Pledge Payment (Seimon Barai)” will be held.
Also, people hoping for a prosperous business will buy the lucky charm “komazarae (bamboo bear hand),” which is decorated with large, small, and treasure ships.
Also, during the “Koshi Taisai,” which has been going on for about 400 years, a new event in Hiroshima that will be held with the keyword “laughing, Hiroshima, Ebisu face” is “Ebessan.”
On the night of 19th (Tuesday), Chuo-dori will become a pedestrian paradise, and kagura, taiko, etc. will be performed.
