Hiroshima-wide Collective Water Offering at A-bomb Memorials [Peace Memorial Park / various locations in the city]
Let's offer a collective water offering at the Hiroshima memorial as a prayer for peace.
Let's offer a collective water offering at the Hiroshima memorial as a prayer for peace.
In Hiroshima, the practice of offering water to the atomic bomb victims is surprisingly little known. "The Story of the Water Offering Water" aims to carry on the wishes of the late Rie Une into the future and share the desire for peace with many people through the offering of water. On the morning of August 6th, after the Hiroshima City Peace Memorial Ceremony, water will be offered simultaneously at approximately 120 atomic bomb memorials within a 2.5km radius of the Hypocenter.
Even a single glass of water can convey your feelings. This initiative, which began in 2017, has gained the support of more and more people each year, and together we have offered water at the memorial.
On August 6th, we hope to join many more people from Japan and abroad who visit Hiroshima to pray for peace in offering water, and expand the circle of "atomic bomb water offerings."
[How to offer water]
・Follow the map provided on the day and visit the designated memorial monuments.
- Join the line of worshippers and wait your turn.
Pour bottled water into a water cup, offer it in front of the memorial, and pray.
(Use about half a glass of water, approximately 100ml.)
- Pour the water from the offering cup into a place that won't cause any inconvenience, rather than into the memorial monument, and take the cup home with you.
