It was built in 1775 (Horeki 5) and was built and rebuilt after the Meiji era. In the precincts, there is a large natural stone monument of Kanko and a brush mound, and cherry blossoms in spring and autumn leaves in autumn further enhance the landscape of the precincts. In addition, there is a "Sugako no Ido" behind the shrine. It is said that the place name of "Mitarai" was given because Sugawara no Michizane used hand water here while being washed away to Dazaifu.
