It stands on a small hill, watching over the pine forest and coast of Katsurahama, and enshrines the Three Munakata Goddesses, the gods of the seamen, and the Three Gods of Usa Hachiman, the gods of military commanders. The main hall is a Sangensha Nagare-zukuri style with an antechamber, and the roof is thatched with persimmon. It is a rare building in the prefecture, with thin wood throughout and even the pillars of the eaves being cylindrical. Its design is also excellent, and it has been designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan.
