A famous temple that was enshrined as a prayer temple for the three families of Mori, Fukushima, and Asano.

Myoju-ji Temple (temple name: Myojo-in) was built by Mori Terumoto as a place for his mother's memorial tablet, but Fukushima Masanori ordered it to be a prayer temple, bestowing it with 200 koku of land. Even during the Asano period, it was designated as a place of prayer to protect the domain, as it was located in the demon's direction of the castle. Furthermore, as it housed the memorial tablets of the founder Nagamasa and his wife, it was granted an additional 200 koku of land. In 1835, the ninth feudal lord, Asano Naritaka, built Nigitsu Shrine on the west side of the temple grounds to enshrine the spirit of the founder Nagamasa. Thereafter, Myojo-in was made the head priest of Nigitsu Shrine. In 1945, all of the buildings were destroyed in the atomic bombing. The current building was rebuilt in 1974, and inside the building are enshrined 47 wooden statues of the Ako Gishi, who were a branch family of the Asano clan of Hiroshima.
