The chief guardian deity of the island that has been enshrined here for thousands of years

This shrine is believed to have been enshrined here for several thousand years and is the island's guardian deity. If you climb the 108 stone steps, you will see the worship hall surrounded by forest in front of the stone torii gate, and from the forest road near Etajima Shrine, you can see the entire view of the former Naval Academy. Furutaka Shrine (formerly Mitaka Shrine) is also enshrined within the shrine grounds.
