Founded in the Edo period, the name was changed to "Tortoises last for a thousand years" in the Meiji period, in hopes of longevity and prosperity. In Hiroshima Prefecture, where sweet sake is more prevalent nationwide, this sake is known for its refreshing, dry taste.
