A gorge of strangely shaped rocks, praised by Rai Sanyo as "the Yabakei of Aki Province."
This gorge, stretching approximately 4 kilometers with towering cliffs, is a scenic spot praised by Rai Sanyo as "Aki's Yabakei." Along the gorge are strangely shaped rocks known as Meoto-iwa (Husband and Wife Rocks), offering a varied and beautiful landscape.
It is especially beautiful during the fresh green of spring and the vibrant autumn foliage. The Meoto-iwa Observation Park, located on a sandbar in the Mukunashi River, is an excellent spot to admire the gorge's beauty. It's a place where you can enjoy the ever-changing scenery of nature throughout the seasons, along with the impressive rock formations.
*Please note that Himegataki Falls was destroyed by the heavy rains of July 2018.
