Corridor-style stone chamber from the first half of the 7th century, a national historic site
It is a huge cave-in stone chamber believed to have been built in the first half of the 7th century, with two burial chambers, one at the front and one at the back, each with a granite sarcophagus placed inside. Cave-in stone chambers were popular during the 6th and 7th centuries, influenced by the burial system that developed on the continent, and are thought to have been influenced by the Kinai region, as they are also found in the Iwayayama Tomb in Nara Prefecture. It is a nationally designated historic site.
