Legendary land surrounded by pure beech forest

Mt. Hiba, which appears in the Kojiki, is said to be the "Hiba Mountain" where Izanami-no-Mikoto, the goddess of creation, was buried. In the center of the mound at the summit, which opens up into a beech forest, lies a moss-covered megalith that is said to be the tomb of Izanami-no-Mikoto. The entire area is designated as a Hiroshima Prefecture historic site as the "Hiba Mountain Legendary Land." At the summit of the tomb, there is a colony of yew trees, a natural monument designated by Shobara City. Mt. Azuma, which is located in the same city as Mt. Hiba, Shobara City, is also a popular climbing spot.
