Take a stroll along the Tsuwano Highway and enjoy the beautiful autumn leaves

Mount Rakan is a round mountain peak with a weather observation dome on top, visible to the west of the Saiki area of Hatsukaichi City. The summit, just a little closer to Yamaguchi Prefecture, is 1,109m above sea level and offers a 360-degree view. The mountains of the Western Chugoku Mountains and the Seto Inland Sea can be seen, and a corner of a wide, lush bamboo field is the highest point in the Saiki area of Hatsukaichi City. The hiking trail on the Hatsukaichi City (Saiki area) side is located up the forest road from the large sign for the Chugoku Nature Trail along Prefectural Route 119 at the back of the middle road. The hiking trail, which features beautiful broadleaf forests mainly made up of oaks, the unusual scenic spots of the peridotite rocks of Kitsune-ga-jo and Okami-ga-jo, and scattered Jizo statues, is a hiking route with excellent views and a good feel throughout.
