A famous place for cherry blossoms, one of the eight scenic spots on Itsukushima

Located at the back of Miyajima Aquarium, this is a quiet park with Omoto Shrine at its entrance. A cluster of fir trees several hundred years old grows along the coastline, making it a rare place in the world where the scent of the trees mixes with the tide. One of Miyajima's famous stones, Ushiishi, is said to have been named after its resemblance to a cow in shape. Although it is now far from the coast, at high tide the stone is submerged in seawater. In spring, the cherry blossoms bloom in abundance, making it a famous cherry blossom viewing spot on Miyajima, and its beauty has led to it being counted among the Eight Views of Itsukushima.
