Introducing the tradition and history of Kumano, the city of brushes
The Kumano Town Folk Museum is a facility that introduces the tradition and history of Kumano, the city of calligraphy, which reigns as Japan's number one brush production area. The building was inherited from a sake brewery in the early Taisho era, and a reproduction of a writing brush wholesaler from the Taisho era can be enjoyed here. In addition, you can learn more about Kumano-cho, the capital of brushes, with many exhibits such as archaeological materials that mark the history of Kumano-cho, nostalgic production tools, and various Kumano brushes.
