It is a large oak tree with a circumference of 10.8m around the root, a trunk circumference of 7.4m, and a tree height of about 30m. It is called "Maki" in this local dialect, and it is a tree that was often used as fuel for iron making and fuel wood. It is a natural monument of Hiroshima prefecture.
