Ilex rotunda is a dioecious evergreen broad-leaved tree, but this tree is a male plant with a height of about 31 m. It is divided into two major branches, north and south, about 3 m above the ground, and the whole shape stands upright in parallel, forming a cylindrical canopy. There is a legend that those who went to the troops of Bunroku and Keicho (1592-1598) brought back the saplings. As you can see, the trunk circumference is about 2.9m, the tree height is about 31m, and it is a natural monument of the prefecture.
