The Kamagari Ancient Earthenware Salt-Making Experience Facility is divided into a Moshio (seaweed) making experience facility and an ancient salt-making ruins restoration exhibition hall. The Moshio (seaweed) making experience takes between one and a half and two hours to make using earthenware and brine handmade by members of the Moshio Society. You can take home the Moshio (seaweed) you've made using your own salt. The adjacent Ancient Salt-Making Ruins Restoration Exhibition Hall has restored salt-making ruins from 1,500 years ago (the Kofun period) to 1,000 years ago (the Heian and Kamakura periods), and displays them together with a number of excavated items. There are also easy-to-understand explanations of ancient salt-making using videos and pictures. Those taking part in the Moshio-making experience should bring a drink, a towel, and gloves.
