Bridge connecting Onomichi Suido
A bridge with a total length of about 385m that connects Onomichi and Mukaishima. It was the first cable-stayed bridge in Japan with a maximum span of over 200 m, and was opened in March 1968. Currently, it is used by locals as a living road that can be passed free of charge and can be crossed by pedestrians and bicycles. Along with the Shinonomichi Bridge, which opened in 1999, it is the starting point of the Shimanami Kaido on the Honshu side.
