Learn about the wishes that are put into okonomiyaki

This facility promotes the food culture of Hiroshima's soul food, okonomiyaki.
Okonomiyaki has now become such a representative part of Hiroshima's food culture that it is said that visitors from all over the world try it at least once.
Its origins date back to the food stalls that supported the reconstruction of Hiroshima citizens behind the scenes after the atomic bombing.
The facility features a museum where visitors can learn about the history and culture of okonomiyaki, as well as an experience facility where visitors can make okonomiyaki on a hot plate or large griddle.
The facility's name, "Wood," represents Otafuku Sauce's consideration for the global environment and combines with the "egg" ingredient in okonomiyaki. The round exterior represents the shape of okonomiyaki as well as family gatherings and peace. The exterior is designed to resemble a Stevenson screen, covered entirely in wood, allowing breezes to pass through from all directions and allowing the sun to be constantly controlled according to the seasons and time of day, in keeping with the natural workings of Hiroshima and the Seto Inland Sea climate.
The building was designed by Hiroshima-born architect Hiroshi Sanbuichi, who is known for placing natural elements such as wind, water, and sun at the core of his designs, and is highly regarded both in Japan and abroad as a leading green architect.
