The 1,600 lights that protect the pears light up magically in the darkness of the summer night.
These lights are installed to prevent damage caused by moths that suck pear fruit. The lights of about 1,600 moth repellent lights that suddenly appear in the darkness of summer nights have been selected as one of the 87 best light landscapes in Hiroshima Prefecture. The moth repellent lights are turned on to prevent damage to crops by taking advantage of the nocturnal pests that suck the juice from the fruit when it is ripening, as they dislike bright yellow light and its wavelengths. The lights are turned on from late July to late September.
