A mountain where Soko Ueda, a chief retainer of the Hiroshima domain who was also a tea master, planted a red pine tree on the summit as a borrowed scenery.
Elevation: 356m. In 1621, a red pine tree was planted on the mountaintop as a borrowed landscape for the teahouse (Wafudo) and the feudal lord's villa (Shukukeien) built by Ueda Soka (1563-1650), a Sengoku warlord and prominent tea master, on the summit of the Hiroshima domain. The tree was named Sokamatsu and the mountain became known affectionately as Mitakiyama (Sokayama). It was also known as Shinjoyama.
