A hub for "peace culture" where everyone can learn and relax.

In October 1931, the library was donated by the Asano family, the former lords of the Hiroshima domain, and opened as the Hiroshima Municipal Asano Library. In October 1974, it was renamed the Hiroshima Municipal Central Library, rebuilt and relocated, and moved to its current location in April 2026.

This library offers access to a diverse collection of books across three floors. Newly added are picture books, children's books, and books for young adults, as well as a multi-purpose room. It provides a space where everyone can enjoy reading and relax.

The 10th floor, the "Books and Videos Floor," is a floor where you can encounter new knowledge. With bookshelves arranged in multiple directions, you can explore the library as if strolling through a forest. You can enjoy reading at your leisure in a variety of reading spaces, and in the screening hall of the adjacent "Hiroshima City Video Culture Library," you can enjoy films, mainly works related to Hiroshima.

The 9th floor, the "Getting to Know Hiroshima Floor," is a floor where you can learn about Hiroshima from multiple perspectives. The library houses materials related to Hiroshima's history, geography, economy, and culture, as well as exhibits of materials on literary figures associated with Hiroshima. The adjacent "Hiroshima City Local History Museum Satellite" utilizes digital technology and interactive content, providing opportunities to learn about Hiroshima's history and culture.

The 8th floor, the "Children and Youth Floor," is a floor where children and youth can encounter books and enjoy learning and activities. It features a picture book reading corner, a parenting information corner, a section with books for young people, a multipurpose room, a study room, and a rest area, providing opportunities for children to develop a love of books and a space where they can freely learn and engage in activities.
