You can enjoy learning about the weather at the hands-on exhibits such as the gust capsule where you can experience the strength of the wind and the Typhoon Box where you can enjoy the atmosphere of a typhoon or a cloud. Parents and children can also enjoy science shows and workshops held on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, and special exhibitions held from August and January to March. The main building is a preserved and maintained building of the Hiroshima Local Meteorological Observatory, which was built in 1934, and is also an atomic bombed building. In 2000, it was designated as an Important Cultural Property of Hiroshima City as a representative of reinforced concrete construction in the early Showa period.
