The main building of the meteorological museum is a preserved former office building of the Hiroshima Local Meteorological Observatory built in 1933, and is designated as an important tangible cultural property by Hiroshima City as a valuable building that retains the characteristics of a reinforced concrete building from the early Showa era. Inside, walls with glass fragments broken by the blast have been preserved, and materials such as records of atomic bomb investigations by meteorological observatory staff at the time are also on display. You can also tour the northern outer wall facing the hypocenter. The video corner also shows a video of the novel ``Blank Weather Map'' (written by Kunio Yanagita), which depicts the state of weather observatories at the time of the atomic bombing. Currently, as a museum with a meteorological theme, there is a "Gust Wind Capsule" (due to the influence of the new coronavirus) where you can experience the strength of the wind.
