Immediately after the atomic bombing, many victims evacuated to the temple.The Sanmon gate remains from that time.

Jikoji Temple is located in Kusatsu Higashi, Nishi Ward. The main hall, Myoken-do Hall, Mojo-do Hall, and mountain gate were all lined up. The main hall has the longest history, having been built in 1700 (Genroku 13), but was rebuilt during the Heisei Great Renovation Project in 2007, and only the mountain gate remains today in its original state. The temple was hit by the atomic bomb on August 6, 1945 (Showa 20), 4.93 kilometers from the hypocenter. Many victims took refuge here immediately after the bombing.

From Hiroshima Station, take the JR Sanyo Main Line and get off at "Nishihiroshima Station", change to the Hiroshima Electric Railway (streetcar), get off at "Kusatsu", and walk for 1 minute.
