Eucalyptus Maruba Willow (Hiroshima Castle Ruins) (A-bombed Tree)

A eucalyptus tree that survives even though its trunk is hollow The eucalyptus that became the motif of Keiji Nakazawa's manga

This tree was exposed to the atomic bomb and is located at the ruins of Hiroshima Castle, 740 meters from the hypocenter. Although the trunk of the Marubayana tree is hollow, it is growing well thanks to treatment by an arborist. A little further away, there is a eucalyptus tree that is 10 meters tall and has a trunk circumference of 2.75 meters, and was the subject of Keiji Nakazawa's manga, "Under the Eucalyptus Tree." Photographs show this tree charred black after the bombing.
