Chugoku-Shikoku Civil Engineering Branch Office Staff Martyr Monument

A monument commemorating the 52 employees who died in the line of duty due to the atomic bomb.

At the time of the bombing, the Chugoku-Shikoku Civil Engineering Branch Office of the Ministry of Home Affairs was located inside the Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall (now the Atomic Bomb Dome), and was directly hit by the atomic bomb, killing 52 people. On the surface of the monument is engraved the condolence song of the director at the time, Mr. Ichiro Abe, who said, "Let the people who became victims of the atomic bomb become a peaceful haven for the world."
