The temple of Toukasan Taisai, one of Hiroshima's three major festivals

It was built in 1619 by Lord Asano Nagaakira, feudal lord of Hiroshima. Its official name is Fukushozan Jitsuin Enryuji, a Nichiren sect temple. Among the various annual events, the Tokasan Festival, held for three days starting on the first Friday of June every year, is considered one of Hiroshima's three major festivals. The festival is a festival day for the Inari (Touka) Daimyojin deity enshrined in Enryuji, and the deity is only open to the public for the three days of the festival. It is also known nationwide as the festival when people in the Hiroshima region start wearing yukata. Other events include a public experience of water training at the Setsubun festival in January.
