A large tree that has been growing for over 150 years reminds us of the hearts of the people who protect the deity of the shrine.

Ato is a quiet place with houses scattered among rice paddies on the flatlands of the mountains. Yamagosho Atomyo Shrine, located at the foot of the mountain, retains the atmosphere of the village's guardian deity as it was in the past, and the shrine community is densely covered with many giant trees. It is said that in 1837, the old Atomyojin and Uzuhachiman merged. At this time, a new shrine was built, and it is said that cedar, cypress, mokkoku, and koyamaki trees were planted in the shrine grounds. The trees, which are probably from that time, have now grown into splendid large trees after 150 years, and the people who have cherished the guardian deities
