Introducing the history of mandarin orange cultivation in Toyomachi, such as the encounter with Hayao Aoe
The Mikan Message Hall introduces the history of mandarin orange cultivation in Toyomachi and the passion and efforts that our forefathers put into mandarin oranges. Inside the hall, you will find life-size replicas of the eight main citrus fruits cultivated in Toyomachi, as well as a diorama model of the Ocho district around 1965, when mandarin orange fields stretched all the way to the mountaintops, and were said to "cultivate and reach the sky." In addition, historical episodes such as the encounter with "Aoe-wase," the origin of mandarin orange cultivation in Toyomachi, are presented through digital picture-story shows and panels.
