Introducing the history of mandarin orange cultivation in Toyomachi, such as the encounter with Hayao Aoe

The Mikan Message Center introduces the history of mandarin orange making in Toyomachi and the passion and efforts of our predecessors. Inside the building, a full-scale replica of eight main types of citrus fruits cultivated in Toyomachi and the Daicho district around 1965, where mandarin orange fields spread to the top of the mountain to the extent that it is said to "cultivate to the heavens", were reproduced. Diorama models are on display. In addition, historical episodes such as the encounter with "Aoe Sase", which was the origin of mandarin orange cultivation in Toyomachi, are collected and introduced in digital picture-story shows and panels.
