A festival that heralds the arrival of summer in Hiroshima

This is a festival for Touka Daimyojin, the deity enshrined as the guardian deity of Enryuji Temple, which was built in 1619 by Lord Asano Nagaakira, the feudal lord of Hiroshima. This early summer festival has been held for over 400 years, and since the three days of the festival, the deity Inari Daimyojin is only open to the public, so it has been a special day for worshippers to receive the divine power of Daimyojin, which originated from Dakini Ten, since the Edo period. The Toukasan Festival, which is counted among the three major festivals in Hiroshima alongside the Ebisu Festival and the Sumiyoshi Shrine Summer Festival, is also known as the "Yukata First Festival," and since many worshippers come to the festival wearing yukata, it is loved by the locals as a traditional culture unique to Hiroshima that is early compared to other parts of the country.
