A hands-on workshop where you can create everyday items from a single sheet of copper

Experience metal forging for the first time in Kurisu, Hatsukaichi City

A workshop will be held at the metalworking studio "Iemori" in Kurisu, Hatsukaichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture, to make daily necessities from a single sheet of copper. Using the metalworking technique of hammering a copper sheet into a three-dimensional shape, participants can make everyday items that can be used that day. The items that can be experienced are mainly rotating objects such as sake cups, frying pans, plates, and lampshades. In this day and age where machine-based industries are mainstream, participants will be able to experience the joy of making things by making their own original crafts using metalworking techniques handed down from the Edo period. The instructors are Yatake Jun and Aoi from "Iemori," a husband and wife metalworking artist duo. They have been metalworking for 17 years.
