[Date of erection] December 18, 1965 [Erected by] Hiroshima City [History] This monument was erected to commemorate the city hall employees who fell victim to the atomic bomb, including Mayor Awaya at the time. The main building, located 1 kilometer from the hypocenter, has retained its structure, but the interior was destroyed by fire. Next to the monument, a reference room has been set up that displays materials related to the atomic bombing, using part of the basement of the old building.
