Exploring a Recycling Plant & Creating Art from Recycled Materials: Learning the Essential Skill of "Connecting Things" in Manufacturing

Experience an awe-inspiring factory tour and witness the moment when discarded items become treasures!

【Highlights】
Various types of waste are inevitably generated in manufacturing. By properly recycling them, these can be "connected" to those who need them next. And at the recipient's end, they are reborn into something new.

The "material connection" sites, essential for sustainable manufacturing, are impressive with numerous heavy machines and equipment in operation! Furthermore, this SDGs tour allows you to experience the moment when waste materials become "treasures" through an art workshop using waste materials generated by manufacturing companies.

・Discussion on Resources
・Recycling Plant Tour
・Exciting Workshop

【Details】
◆Discussion on Resources
What happens to the things we usually throw away as garbage after collection?
Where, to whom, and how does recycling benefit them?
We will explain "garbage" and "recycling," which you might think you know but actually don't, in an easy-to-understand way.

◆Recycling Plant Tour
①How are cars processed after they are scrapped?

② What forms are recycled paper (cardboard, magazines, newspapers, etc.) and beverage cans (aluminum cans, steel cans) transformed into?

③ What kind of machinery is used to process large pieces of iron scrap (steel frames, rebar, etc.) collected from factories?

We will tour a recycling plant, a place you normally can't enter, and witness the impressive sight of resources being compressed in presses and iron being cut by large machines.

◆ Exciting Workshop (Hands-on Class)
A workshop where you create art pieces using waste materials and scraps generated at manufacturing sites in the Fukuyama and Bingo regions.

Experience the moment when something unwanted by someone else becomes a treasure to you.
