[2026 Edition] Hiroshima's cherry blossom spots! Introducing everything from classics to hidden gems


After the cold winter comes the warm spring.
Spring is the season of cherry blossoms🌸
This is the time of year when many tourists from inside and outside the prefecture visit Hiroshima.
Therefore, in this special feature, we will introduce some tips for those who are coming to Hiroshima to see the cherry blossoms.
We'll introduce you to all the best cherry blossom viewing spots in Hiroshima City and the greater Hiroshima metropolitan area, from the classics to the hidden gems!
* The Hiroshima Metropolitan Area is made up of 30 cities and towns located within approximately 60km of the center of Hiroshima City, spanning the three prefectures of Hiroshima, Yamaguchi, and Shimane.
Ondo no Seto Park ( Kure City ) is about a 60-minute drive from the center of Hiroshima City . This park offers a magnificent view of the Ondo no Seto Strait, which is said to have been opened by Taira no Kiyomori, and the beautiful crimson arch bridge, Ondo Ohashi Bridge. This is a place where you can enjoy not only the cherry blossoms in spring, but also the azaleas in early May.
Miyajima in Spring is especially popular with tourists. In addition to the World Heritage Site Itsukushima Shrine, there are many other famous places, such as the weeping cherry blossoms that bloom beside the treasure house along the Momijidani River and the weeping cherry blossoms that bloom in the library under Senjo-kaku.

Due to aging and other factors, Hiroshima Castle main tower will close on Sunday, March 22, 2026 (Reiwa 8). The exterior of the main tower will remain open for viewing. Hiroshima Castle, built by Mori Terumoto, is known for its cherry blossoms, with areas around the tower and moat offering wonderful opportunities for cherry blossom viewing and strolling. Commercial facilities will open in the Sannomaru area of Hiroshima Castle starting in March 2025, so you can enjoy the cherry blossoms along with them. Hiroshima Stadium Park , consisting of the soccer stadium EDION Peace Wing Hiroshima and the plaza areas on both sides, will open in 2024! A pedestrian deck connecting the park to nearby facilities like Hiroshima Gate Park and Hiroshima Prefectural Gymnasium has also been installed, making access even more convenient. The Ota River riverbank is also a popular cherry blossom viewing spot, attracting many visitors every year.

Mount Noro boasts some of the most beautiful scenery in Setonaikai National Park. Cherry blossoms bloom in April, azaleas in May, and hydrangeas bloom in July all over the mountaintop, allowing you to enjoy the scenery throughout the seasons.
Serakogen Farm is about an hour and a half's drive from central Hiroshima City. Cherry blossoms spread across the vast flower fields. The combination with rape blossoms is stunning. For more information about this year's Sakura Festival, please visit the farm's official website.
Hijiyama Park is located on a small hill and offers a panoramic view of Hiroshima City and the Seto Inland Sea. The park is also an art park, with the Hiroshima City Museum of Hiroshima City Art , the Manga Library , and sculptures on display. There are cherry blossom viewing spots throughout the park, including Moore Square in front of the Hiroshima Hiroshima Museum of Contemporary Art, and the park is bustling with visitors. There is also a "Peace Message Square" where visitors can read the "Messages for Peace" left in the guest book by the G7 leaders when they visit the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum for the G7 Hiroshima Summit in May 2023.
