More than 13,000 creatures of 350 species are exhibited, mainly finless porpoises, which are the symbol of Miyajima Aquarium, and other creatures from the Seto Inland Sea. In the marine animal area, adorable animals such as penguins, sea lions, seals, and small-clawed otters gather.
The new facility “Hatsukoi-an” that opened this summer is built with a Japanese space in mind, and it is connected to a healing place for visitors.

Located at the foot of Mt. Misen, directly behind Itsukushima Shrine, it is the head temple of the Shingon sect Omuro school. On of the Monk from the Itsukishima Shrine is in charge of Daisho-in's festivals.
It is the most important place for Buddhism religion on the island, and this shrine's monks have jurisdiction over the ruins where Kobo Daishi of Mt. Misen practiced the secret law of Gumonmochi.
It is a prestigious temple that has a deep relationship with the imperial family, as a prayer dojo for Emperor Toba's imperial order, and even was a place where Hideyoshi held tea ceremonies.
