It is said that Taira no Kiyomori, who carved out the Seto of Otodo, sank the stones of each character to the seabed instead of the human pillars and completed the difficult construction. It was built in 1184 as a memorial service in honor of its merit, and it is built protruding from the torrent-washing Seto.
