It is an old tree that is said to have been planted in the early Edo period, and welcomes worshipers at the top of the stone steps of Enshoji Temple. The branches with a trunk circumference of 3 to 4 m and extending in all directions are just right to call it a famous tree. There are two varieties of Higanzakura, one of the largest trees in the prefecture, and it was designated as a natural monument of the prefecture in 1959.
