Kenkichi Nakamura, as the leader of the Araragi school, was a leading figure in the world of tanka poetry and a prominent figure among modern Japanese poets.
On December 25, 1933, he went to the tranquil slopes of Senkoji Mountain in Onomichi for recuperation, and sadly passed away on May 5, 1934, at the age of 46.
