A brush village where people, culture and nature are in harmony

Kumano Town has a history of brush making dating back to the late Edo period, and today Kumano Fude is a traditional craft that is said to be the most produced in the country. Fude no Sato Workshop is a facility that plays a central role in creating a Fude no Sato that takes advantage of the characteristics of this region. You can learn about the history and culture of brushes, see permanent exhibitions where you can see and touch them, and watch brush-making demonstrations by traditional craftsmen. Various special exhibitions are held throughout the year, and you can even try your hand at making calligraphy brushes. In the brush-making experience, you can experience two of the 12 steps of brush-making: ``upper hair wrapping'' and ``finishing''. Also, if you make a reservation one week in advance, you can have your name engraved on the brush shaft. You can also experience wearing Samue like a craftsman.
