A treasure trove of wetland flora and fauna in each season, such as magnolia kobus in spring and Japanese iris in summer!
Yahata Marsh is located in the Yahatahara district of Kitahiroshima Town, at an altitude of about 800m, surrounded by mountains of about 1,000m. There are marshes of various sizes scattered around, and it is almost the southernmost limit of marshland distribution in Japan. The average annual temperature in the marshes is low at around 10°C, making it cool and comfortable even in summer, and many rare marsh-dwelling plants and animals can be seen. The Mizuguchidani Marsh and Kirigaya Marsh, located close to the Geihoku Highlands Nature Museum, have boardwalks that make it easy to enjoy a stroll.
