A treasure trove of wetland flora and fauna in each season, such as magnolia kobus in spring and Japanese iris in summer!
Yawata Marshland is located in the Yawatahara district of Kitahiroshima Town, situated on a plateau at an altitude of approximately 800m, surrounded by mountains reaching over 1,000m in height. It comprises numerous marshes of varying sizes and represents almost the southernmost limit of marshland distribution in Japan. The average annual temperature in the marshland is low, around 10°C, making it cool and comfortable even in summer, and offering a rich variety of rare wetland flora and fauna.
The Mizuguchidani Marshland and Kirigaya Marshland, located near the Geihoku Plateau Nature Museum, have well-maintained boardwalks, allowing for easy and enjoyable walks.
