It was enshrined as the guardian deity of Ondo-cho after being relocated and rebuilt during the Tenpyo era.

The main deity was enshrined in the Tenpyo era more than 1,200 years ago, and the enshrined deity enshrines Emperor Ojin as the main deity, Empress Jingu, and Tamayorihime no Mikoto. The shrine was temporarily returned to Yano due to the war in the Middle Ages, but in 1560 it was transferred from Ozaki Shrine in Yano to Watashi, and then to this shrine. It was rebuilt in 1576 by Takakage Kobayakawa, renovated two or three times since then, and is enshrined as the guardian deity of Ondo Town. It was built in 1191.
